Flat Track Racing in IDAHO {OMC Rd #1}

This past weekend, we hopped in Poppa Wheelies’ dully pick-up with trailer+bikes in tow – and headed to Nampa, Idaho (8 hours from home) to visit my sister + brother-in-law, and race the OMC Flat Track Series {Round #1}!

My only sibiling/older sister Chandra is what I consider a ‘flat track veteran’, holding several pro titles throughout her 25+ years of racing quads (on dirt AND ice).  Just a little over a year ago, her career in racing was put on hold due to being diagnosed with MS. Since her diagnoses, she has worked hard to maintain her illness in a positive attempt to live a healthy and happy life. Anyone who has met her knows how much of a strong and amazing person she is…MS knocked her on her a$$, but she has fought back and kept such a positive attitude…I sure love and admire her! This past weekend was her first time back on the dirt track and I couldn’t have been any more proud and happy to be there to cheer her on!

Chandra got the whole-shot on both the heat and the main, riding fierce (running tire-to-tire with her competition in every corner, keeping tight on the inside line, allowing NO room for error) and maintaining 1st place for the entire 8 lap race in BOTH the PRO heat and main race – taking home the $100 cash purse at the end of the night!

Uncle Johnny and Shane raced their 3-wheelers, Johnny taking 1st and Shane 2nd.

Maybelline and Penelope both raced an open kids quad class, May sweeping up 2nd place and Nelly 3rd.

Both girls also raced an open kids dirt bike class; May fought hard taking 3rd, and Nelly shortly behind in 4th.

Such a great weekend of racing with family!

BUSY life, HAPPY life!

Ok, so it’s been almost TWO WEEKS since I’ve posted here! Wondering why? Well, first and foremost – we’ve been SOOOOO busy doing NON-MOTO related things. No REALLY, we do take a break every now and then!

Last weekend – we went on our annual fishing trip for KINGS {salmon} out of Chinook, WA! As always, was a great time spent with family…

Upon our arrival home, we discovered ‘our wild cat (Rosie)’ had baby kittens! Rosie (nick-named by the girls’) is a wild cat that has been roaming the neighborhood for months now. We feed her every now and then, and the girls’ sometimes play with her. As we pulled in the driveway, a neighbor delivered her and 3 kittens to our doorstep (we had no idea she was even pregnant)! What a joy the kittens have been…the girls’ are SOOOOOO in love. They are about 4 weeks old now (and we’ve been gone 3 of the 4 weeks – amazes me she was able to keep them alive for so long w/o water or food for herself), so we are keeping them and momma together until they can be adopted out (just in time for me to go back to work and kids to school). Too much fun!

Today, we just returned from a weekend camping trip at our FAVORITE local RV Resort with our FAVORITE Canadian friends. Too much sun, drinking, and food – SO FUN!

We topped the day off with (future Team #77 racer) Logan’s 1st Birthday! Of course we had to gift him some wheels – so a HONDA strider bike it was. HE LOVED IT! We are blessed to have such great family and friends.

And then – BACK TO MOTO’ing. Next weekend are BMX State Finals in Port Orchard! This shall be an interesting trip, as I just realized a week or so ago that it was a 2 day event…and there is a HUGE road project going on between us and the Peninsula (which means TONS of traffic delays). The track has no more RV parking available, and all the local resorts and state parks are full. We are still not sure how we are going to make this work – but some way, somehow – we will make it there!

Stay tuned for more updates from #MotoMom as we head off to State Finals…
